The monitoring utility is supported, it's just closed source
and extremely crappy. :)

We've had some good reliability with 3ware controllers under
Linux, specifically the Escalade 7000 series.

On one server a 3ware controller manages a 320GB 6 disk
RAID configured RAID-5 with no trouble, on another it
manages a 36GB 2 disk RAID-1.  Both of these servers have
been running for more than a year in high volume production
environments.
