[nylug-talk] Lisp meeting sucked - not because of the presenter

It was contentious though not strident after Heow finished speaking.
During the Q&A part. I understand your concerns, as I asked at least
twice, ``My head is spinning, so what dialect of Lisp should a neophyte
choose to begin?'' A basic question that wasn't answered, as the
technical footnotes were flying left and right.

However, I have to share that we had in addition to Heow, a special
member in the audience, Raymond de Lacaze (delacaze.alu.org), President
of the Association of Lisp Users (http://www.alu.org), an international
Lisp organization. He happens to live in New York City, and has 18+
years of Lisp operating knowledge, as an AI person, researcher, and
start-up guy.

Raymond is arranging the October Lisp conferece in New York City, at the
New Yorker Hotel, across from Madison Square Garden.

He was the gentleman in the front row left, in the purple shirt, who
after one long expository bout succintly rejoindered with ``b_llsh_t!''

He's an unbelieveably charming guy. And with all the skill a Lisp
historian would want he entertained with breath and depth during
Stammtisch, on all sort of Lisp matter. He's open to varying point of
views which is why I mention him. He walked me through the thinking of
the opposing point of views, and shook the puzzle into place for me.
Which is what you wanted. Me too. I received my answer, and a good book
suggestion as well. I am impressed.

He is part of LispNYC.org, and he got a kick out of NYLUG, he told me he
would be attending future NYLUG meetings. That pleases me. BTW, LispNYC
is looking for a formal meeting place, so folks with the wherewithal,
space are welcome to contact Raymond. As a recent import from California
to NYC he is looking for intersting job opportunities. He would be a
find, among other things he was part of the SRI research institute.
